CardiffMail: Logging In

Mar 24, 2010 by Nat Rowson

CardiffMail Notes
You can log on to your machine with your Notes password. This is seperate to your normal network password. If you do not know your Notes password, consult insrvConnect (insrvConnect@cf.ac.uk) for further assistance.

You are able to log in to other machines with Notes installed as long as they are set up for Multi User use.

CardiffMail Web
You can access your mail through the MWE (Modern Working Environment). Type https://mwe.cf.ac.uk into your internet browser. Enter your normal network username and password. Click on the Email & Collaboration tab and CardiffMail will load.

Alternatively you can access CardiffMail through http://cardiffmail.cf.ac.uk .

Log In Options

When logging in to CardiffMail web you will have several options:

CardiffMail Web Login Screen

Full Mode
Offers full CardiffMail functionality. Mail, Calendar, To Do, Contacts and Notebook are all available without limitation. Full mode does require the ability to write files to the computer's hard disk, which may not be possible in restrictive environments such as cybercafés. In these circumstances it may be better to use Lite mode. This is the default mode when logging in.
Lite Mode
Offers reduced CardiffMail functionality. Mail and Contacts are fully functional and the ability to read, but not alter Calendar appointments is offered. This mode does not write information to the hard disk, so is ideal for restricted access environments such as cybercafés. It is also ideal for quickly dipping in and out of emails as rich features such as right click functionality are not available, therefore CardiffMail Web Lite is very quick to load.

Shared or Public Computer
Tick the Shared or public computer option if you are logging into CardiffMail on a computer that other people use. This prevents any user information or temporary files being stored on the computer, thus protecting your data.
